Environmental Initiatives

There have been a lot of environmentally focused activities in Term 2.  We held Rangitoto College's very first Environmental Hackathon event on 11th May.

Students competed to find the best plan to create a culture of sustainability at the college. They worked in teams to research, plan and present a solution to some of the environmental issues that our school is facing.   With the help of the executive members from the University of Auckland's Sustainable Future Collective, Anna Harrison from Auckland City Council, and Caitlyn Prince from Sustainable Coastlines, each team presented a detailed and realistic plan at the end.

The Sustainable Coastlines club has also been very active.  Natalie Tsang, Matilda Towers, Heyam Murad and Lee-Anne Morris joined forces with Kristin School and organised their second beach clean-up at Takapuna beach.  Over 40 students participated despite the windy and wet conditions.
