Tēnā koutou e te whānau whānui o Rangitoto.
Term 3 has been one of extremes for the Rangitoto Community. With a positive start featuring a plethora of award wins in prestigious academic and performing arts competitions, to the extended time in lockdown, our students have traversed a range of emotions and challenges.
In the 33 days of online schooling this lockdown, there have been approximately 57,600 Google Meet invites and over 5,300 Google Classroom posts that have gone out to our students. Student engagement has been very positive, with attendance in lessons strong. Unfortunately, students often remain faceless and the number who claim to have broken microphones and cameras is incredible! We cannot wait to see you face to face back in the classroom. To date in 2021, students have missed 29 per cent of ‘normal’ class time.
I am exceedingly grateful for the ongoing support of our community, and the motivation and resilience of our students to move beyond monotony in the pursuit of valued academic outcomes. To the incredible staff at Rangitoto, a huge thank you for constantly striving to get the best educational outcomes for our students in very trying times.
I remain hopeful that we can go back to teaching on-site in Term 4, and parents can get a well-earned rest from homeschooling.
